Lima
Lima, the capital city of Peru is home to big palaces and houses, wonderfully
and lavishly built churches and convents, museums treasuring art jewels
and other historical monuments all making Lima, a tourist destination
also designated as the Cultural World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The
city has also been prized as the ‘Garden City’ on a number
of times and is a great tourist destination to spend great and unforgettable
moments.

The official language of Lima is the Spanish, however English is widely
understood and acceptable. Lima is 5 hours behind GMT. Lima has four seasons.
Summer lasts from third week of December to March, Autumn from March to
June, Winter from June to September and Spring from September to December
and is the best season to visit the place.
How to reach
The Lima’s international airport- Jorge Chavez is the main hub to
local flights connections. The airport has regular flights connecting
to most of the major cities of the world. International visitors are required
to have passport and visa to gain an entry to the city. Local transport
consists of private taxies which are affordable as well as convenient.
When to go
Shanghai experiences four seasons with temperature extremes in seasons.
While winters are chilly and freezing, the summers are scorching wit temperatures
rising to as high as 36 degrees C during the months of July and August.
Even temperatures extremes of -10 degrees and 40 degrees have been recorded.
Heavy downpour is also pretty common during early summers and rainy seasons.
Spring starts in March and is the best season to visit the place. Summer
starts in June, Autumn in September and Winter in December.
Major Attractions
Lima is a place for art connoisseurs and those who want to go back to
the rich history of the place. Lima houses some of the best museums and
palaces of the world and some of the most beautiful buildings of all times.
Plaza Mayor is the urban center of the city of Lima and is surrounded
by the principal buildings dating from the colonial period: the Government
Palace, the Cathedral and the Municipality or city hall. The Cathedral
is the biggest tourist attraction and to one side of the Church is located
the Bishop Palace with beautiful balconies. Government Palace which is
also called the House of Government or the House of Pizarro has been the
headquarters of all the Peruvian governors, Viceroys and Presidents. Palacio
Municipal (Hall City) has an important collection of Peruvian paintings
and photographs, as well as the historical documents. Pancho Fierro Art
Gallery
is used to display photographs, paintings and costumes of old Lima. Monument
to Tauli Chusco was unveiled on the 450th anniversary of the founding
of the city of Lima and attracts a large number of visitors. Besides a
number of museums in Lima recreate a complete scene of the millennial
Peruvian past in archeology, history and art. Museo Arqueológico
Rafael Larco Herrera (Archaeological museum Rafael Larco Herrera) Museo
de la Nacion (Museum of the Nation). Museo del Banco Central de Reserva
(Museum of the Central Bank of Reservation), Museo Nacional de la Cultura
Peruana (National Museum of the Peruvian Culture), Museo de Arte Italiano
(Museum of Italian Art) have been the major tourist attraction.
Night life
Lima at night, usually has the same or more intensity than during the day. Lima offers opportunities for almost all the preferences and budgets. For those initiated in fast life, Lima has Casinos and Gambling Houses, which are legally allowed. Besides there are diverse night centers that present shows from the Peruvian folklore and songs and dance sequences. The salsodromos is the ideal places for the lovers of salsa and Caribbean music and their contagious rhythm and happiness, many of them with live music. Lima personifies life and is a great place to visit if you want to see the city in all it beauty and activity.
