VeniceHow to Reach Marco Polo airport, 100 km from Venice is the most widely used point of entry to the great city of Venice. From there, you take an ACTV bus nr. 5 to the city centre, which leaves every 30 minutes. Other, more expensive, options are the ATVO buses or waterbuses. Vaporetto (water bus) is most amazing method of getting around Venice. The only ways of getting around Venice are walking and paying up for the expensive but once in a life time experience of gondola. Major Attractions Venice in itself is the main attraction. Strolling along the streets and the canals, sipping a glass of wine or Grappa and cherishing every moment is a great experience in itself. Along the Canal Grande are various piazzas, churches and monasteries, most of them accessible to the public. The main sights are centred at and around the piazza of San Marco. Besides housing a number of impressive architectural diversity, several buildings also house museums and galleries. The gallery of the Accademia, which has a fine and varied collection of Venetian painting is a treat to visit and must on the itinerary. The attractions in Venice also include many remarkable structures, such as an impressive array of bronze work, tapestries and paintings from the 5th to 6th century, as well as a whole handful of amazing buildings and galleries showcasing the artistic side of Venice. Where to Stay It is always the festive season in Venice, although the city is particularly busy with tourists and visitors in the months of spring, especially surrounding Easter. Accommodation is one of the most difficult things to find around that time zone, as well as around Christmas, New Year and festival Carnival in February. The most pleasant time of year to visit is late March into May, with clear spring days and fewer crowds. September and October are also good options to visit the beautiful city. Entertainment and Night Life Theatres, cinemas, pubs and bars offer pleasure and diversion from dusk till dawn. Some of the greater discos are located outside around Mestre or Jesolo but even in the heart of Venice visitors and tourists will find small and cosy pubs or clubs. If you are looking for the upbeat bars and restaurants, you cannot go wrong with the area surrounding Campo di Santa Margarita in San Polo. The area is buzzing with life and vibrancy during the weekends as market stalls of fish and vegetables open up. ![]() ADD THIS TO YOUR SOCIAL BOOKMARKS
